Andrew G. Kumpuris, MD is founder, investor and Advisor of NuShores. He recently retired as a Cardiology Specialist with 50 years of experience in the medical field. A widely known and respected community leader and organizer, Dr. Kumpuris has served and continues to serve in diverse business and community boards and has held several distinguished academic and healthcare policy positions throughout his career.
Business Boards he has or still serves include the Arkansas Fund for the Future (Angel Fund), Nimbulis Software Inc., Bank of America (Arkansas), Boatman’s National Bank, and Worthen National Bank. Community Boards’ service includes St. Vincent Health Systems (Chairman), Arkansas Center for Health Improvement (Chair), Ogilvie Fund for Spinal Research/Hermann Foundation, National Cardiovascular Network, Fay Boozman School of Public Health, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Ourtown-Racial Prejudice Reduction (Founder and Chair) and art and civic boards such as the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Little Rock.   He has been appointed to boards and committees statewide such as the Taskforce on Healthcare Reform (Chairman), Arkansas Tobacco Settlement Commission, Committee to Implement ACA, Federal-State Health Insurance Exchange, and has served as Chairman of the Board for the AR State & Public Scholl Employee Insurance Board for 3 administrations.
He is Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Society of Cardiac Angiography, and Council of Clinical Cardiology among many others. He was also was a Congressional Fellow for the American Political Science Association and a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship for the Senate Finance Committee and Senate HELP Committee as well as a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary International.
Dr. Â Kumpuris graduated from Baylor College of Medicine medical school in 1974. He was affiliated with medical facilities such as Baptist Health Medical Center – Little Rock and CHI St. Vincent Infirmary. He has extensive experience in clinical trials and protocols. Dr. Kumpuris has served as Protocol Director for the Lipid Research Center for the Baylor College of Medicine as well as Clinical Director for the National Beta Blocker Heart Attack Trails at Baylor. He also served as a Principal Investigator for the National Heart and Blood Vessel Research Center at the National Institutes of Health in evaluating systemic vasodilator therapy on the frequency and nature of ventricular ectopy in congestive heart failure patients. Â Dr. Kumpuris has also served as a Health Policy Visiting Professor for the Williams School of Economics for Washington and Lee University and Hendrix College as well as an Adjunct Professor of Health Policy for the Clinton School of Public Service.
